Our RSS feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/webbalert.
Or, you can subscribe directly in iTunes.
WebbAlert is partly built upon a technology called RSS, which can allow you to subscribe to my videocasts in a variety of ways. In other words, they can come to your computer (or your iPod, or other portable device) automatically, whenever I publish a new one. And yes, it's free! There are several ways to subscribe to a videocast like mine. First, I'll talk about doing this using the popular iTunes software.
If you use iTunes, just clicking on the iTunes button on this page should launch your iTunes player, and initiate a subscription to WebbAlert.com. You can then use iTunes to put WebbAlert onto your iPod or iPhone. WebbAlert will download into a section of your Library (found in the upper left pane of your iTunes player) called Podcasts. From then on, if there's a fresh episode of WebbAlert sitting out on the Internet when you launch iTunes, it will download automatically. To play it, just go to the Podcasts section of your library, and you'll see it listed. To cancel this automatic subscription, just delete WebbAlert from your library. For further instructions, check out the Help guide embedded in your iTunes player. If you don't currently have the iTunes software, you'll need to install it before doing any of this - just visit the itunes website and follow the instructions.
Sometimes hitting an iTunes subscribe button like the one on this page causes an error message. This usually has something to do with the way that the iTunes software is talking to your computer, although there can be myriad other reasons for this. If you get an error message when you're trying to subscribe and can't work it through, try typing itpc://feeds.feedburner.com/webbalert into the address bar of your web browser (that's right - your web browser - not iTunes!). This should fire up iTunes and simultaneously launch your subcription to WebbAlert. Kind of cool, huh? If you're still getting errors, please consult the Help section of the iTunes software.
Another way to subscribe to WebbAlert through iTunes is through iTunes' built-in podcast directory. To find this, launch iTunes, then in upper the left pane, click on the link to the iTunes Store. Once in the store, find the little navigational window in the upper left corner which is also called "iTunes Store," and click on Podcasts. The section that launches now changes frequently, so it's hard for me to tell you exactly where I'll be within it, or if I'll even be featured at all on any given day. But look for me. Start in the Video Podcasts section. If you don't see me immediately, click on the Tech section within Video Podcasts, or See All (or click into the Tech Section, AND See All). Hopefully you'll find me! If you do, you can then click on my icon, which will take you to a page describing WebbAlert and a Subscribe button.
The Miro player (also know as the Democracy player) is another great video/RSS tool that can also let you subscribe to and view WebbAlert. The iTunes instructions above generally apply here as well. If you already have the software installed, just click here and everything should go smoothly. To install the software, visit Miro's website.
Click here and WebbAlert should now appear on your My Yahoo page every day.
This is for subscribing to WebbAlert via the Google homepage or the Google Reader. Click here and follow the instructions. Google makes this easy!
If you have a relatively recent version of a popular web browser (FireFox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and even some others) the odds are very high that you have a built-in RSS reader in that browser. Clicking the "RSS" button on this page will take you to a page that will allow you to subscribe to WebbAlert from your browser. This page should feature a prominent "Subscribe Now" button. Every browser behaves a bit differently, so please consult the Help section of your web browser menu bar for more detailed instructions if this doesn't work for you.
